How do you update drivers?

It is important to keep your drivers updated. Updating drivers will increase your computer's stability and the performance of your hardware devices. Often, more than once a year, vendors will issue updated drivers. These can include fixes for bugs or even new features. There are a few different ways you can updated your drivers.

The fastest and easiest way to update your drivers is through a sophisticated software program designed to keep your drivers correct and up to date. One of the very best of these is ParetoLogic DriverCure. This program will thoroughly scan your computer to see which drivers you need and use its extensive database to ensure you have the most up-to-date version. DriverCure also will keep you up-to-date by letting you know via email if a new driver is available for any of your hardware devices. All of this takes the hassle and frustration out of updating your drivers.

You can also search online for driver updates. This can be a frustrating process as they can be hard to find. As well, there is the possibility that you will download the incorrect driver. If you are not downloading from a trusted source, you could also be infecting your PC with spyware or other malware. You will need to check frequently to make sure you have all of the latest drivers.

It is also possible to update drivers manually through Windows. You can use Windows Update to check if new drivers are available. In Vista, if you are logged in as the administrator, open the "Device Manager" from the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel." After that you can click "System and Maintenance," and then select "Device Manager." At this point, you might be asked for a password or to provide confirmation. In Device Manager, look for the hardware you want to update, and then double click on its name. Click to go to the "Driver" tab, and then click "Update Driver" and complete the steps as directed.

Updating your device drivers is an important part of your regular computer maintenance. There are various methods and you can choose the one that best suits your needs and level of expertise.
